Sandfish Skink - Scincus scincus
Sandfish are small/moderately sized skinks that get their name from their ability to travel under the surface of loose sand as if they were swimming. They have beady eyes, short legs, smooth scales and a wedge shaped nose. All these adaptations allow it to survive in the deserts of Africa by quickly vanishing under the surface of the sand to escape heat and predators.
