Calibrating your Thermostat
1. Install your heat source, whether it be an incandescent bulb, ceramic bulb or heat mat, into your Vivarium. Make sure you use a guard with any kind of heat bulb.
2. Plug your heat source into the socket on your thermostat.
3. Position the Heat Sensor (Probe) 15 to 18 inches away from the Hot Spot at a height your animal will bask. Place your thermometer here too.
4. Plug the Thermostat into the mains socket and it will switch on. Turn the thermostat dial up to full.
5. Allow temperature to reach your desired reading on your thermometer and then slowly turn the dial on the thermostat down until it either dims, pulses or turns off (depending on your thermostat).
6. Your “day temperature” is now set. Mark the setting on your stat with a pen.
7. Most animals require a night time temperature drop which you will have to do manually with a standard thermostat.
8. Repeat the above steps until you find the setting for your night temperature.
9. Don’t forget to turn the temperature back up in the morning.
1. Plug the lead coming from below directly into a plug socket.
2. Set day temperature as above. (Do not turn the stat dial once set!)
3. Now plug the lead coming from the side of your thermostat into a socket timer.
4. Set your socket timer so that it turns ON when you want your night time temperature drop.
5. Use the red dial under the thermostat to adjust the temperature differential between your day and night temperatures.
6. Once set, Day and Night models should need no further adjustment
