Reptile Starter Kits

Paws for Thought's Reptile Starter Kits are the ideal starter kit for reptiles from Bearded Dragons to Leopard Geckos at very affordable prices!

Unlike other shops we don't sell you more than you need, though we do provide you with the essentials. Some shops may not include vital pieces of equipment with their starter kits so please make sure they include the following.

Thermostats! Many other reptile shops try to cut corners by omitting the thermostat from the kit. This is incredibly dangerous, not just for your reptiles, but also for yourself. The thermostat is vital for maintaining the correct temperatures within the vivarium. If your heat element is not controlled by a thermostat then the temperatures could soar to dangerous levels and kill your reptile, or in worse case scenarios with faulty heating elements, could start a fire. If buying from elsewhere please be sure your kit comes with a thermostat. Some shops may argue that thermostats aren't neccessary for heat mats though this thread on the Reptile Forums provides evidence that they are needed even for heat mats! Do I really need a thermostat?

Adequate Vivariums! Some reptile shops are selling 3 foot vivariums for bearded dragons, and some even smaller! Remember a bearded dragon can get two feet long! Does a three foot vivarium really sound suitable?
