Eyed Lizard - Lacerta lepida

Eyed Lizards are a large and brightly coloured lizard from Europe and Northern parts of Africa. Eyed Lizards, also known as Juwelled Lizards, Juwelled Lacertids or Occellated Lizards get their name from the beautiful pattern on their sides that vaguely ressemble eyes.

They are the largest of the Lacertids. The males can grow up to 24 inches, though females are smaller at around 18" on average.
