Dart Frogs - Dendrobates tinctorius

Dart Frogs, or Poison Arrow Frogs, are small, and usually very colourful rainforest frogs. They get their name from their poison being used to tip arrows and darts. In the wild, most of these frogs are very poisonous indeed, however their toxicity is greatly reduced in captivity. Most of their toxicity comes from their diet in the wild, and so captive specimens are no where near as toxic as their wild counterparts.
